Life Members 2015

19 Oct 2015 by Rosie Graham

Approximately 40 years ago, the first netball teams in Cundletown were established and these were managed and organised by Cundletown Public School. The 1990’s saw a change, and Cundletown Netball Club was launched and introduced as a community based association that began with only just two teams. Cundletown Netball Club has grown from strength to strength and today we can proudly state that 2015 ended with a total of eight teams within our club. But, it isn’t an automatic process. It takes a great team of dedicated people who have a passion for their club, for the game of netball, and in providing our children with the support, advice and encouragement to be good sportsmen and to just ‘do their best’.
Today we’d like to acknowledge and recognise some of the individuals, who between them, have dedicated over 60 years in their contributions and support to our club and we’d like to show our appreciation for their continued support and commitment.
I’d like to ask Margaret Mobbs to come to the front.
Margaret has been a long standing member of our Netball Club and was there from the beginning when it was run as part of Cundletown Public School. She is our current President who does a lot of ‘behind the scenes” work that keeps our club and its members connected and informed. Margaret is not only an active member of the committee, but is a supportive mother and grandmother to her family members who have also been a part of Cundletown netball and will hopefully be able to enjoy seeing her great grandchildren take part in this wonderful sporting community. Margaret, we thank you for your dedication and support.
I would like to ask Joy Toy to come to the front please.
Jo has been an active member of Cundletown Netball Club for over ten years and plays an important role in our registration and recruitment processes, organising of umpires for our weekly games, and in the selection of teams and their grading. Jo has played an important role in ensuring that our club and the many other surrounding clubs are looked after in many aspects of the games. She has been involved in many roles over the past ten years and dedicates a lot of her time encouraging new and upcoming players, umpires and coaches to succeed and enjoy their games, while supporting Cundletown Netball Club in its success. Thank You Jo.
I would like to ask Dana Wyse to come forward please.
Many of you would know Dana as our current Fundraising queen through the many fundraising activities that are held throughout the year, but many of you may not know the huge part that Dana has played over the years in supporting Cundletown Netball Club. Dana has been involved in all aspects of the day to day activities and behind the scenes work that is involved in ensuring that our club continues to grow and succeed. She has a genuine interest in ensuring that all players are treated fairly and equally and is dedicated in the welfare and development of all our players and reinforcing the objective of all players enjoying in netball. Thank you Dana for your continued support over the last 10 years.

These three people have been the backbone of Cundletown Netball Club and are the reason we are here today. Without their wisdom, dedication and ongoing support Cundle Netball wouldn’t be the successful club that it has come to be. Today we would like to present them with the Cundletown Netball Club Life Member Award. This award is in recognition of the dedication and commitment that these three ladies have had towards our club and the support they have provided throughout their lives. This award will be on display at Cundletown Public School.
Please put your hands together for our Life Members Margaret, Jo and Dana.
